Aaaaaand now I feel like a complete moron because despite my lengthy detailed comment on this beautiful work of art as well as the comic following it, I mixed up Spaz and Slugger's names. I'm so embarrassed, I seriously wish Deviantart would let us edit our comments. >///< Forgive me. T^T
Wow, I love how you fit Spaz into this image, this art style looks amazing! Slightly reminds me of the webcomic Jack, mordbid yet good read. -w- Spaz's bodyshape is simply incredibly! At first I saw him as nothing more than an overgrown lizard, but from this image I can see that he is so much more than that! I can see his muscles mixed with his slick body, his long claw like fingers, his massive feet, his rows of teeth and even the spines down his back. it all comes together to make a menacing yet jaw dropping creature, and this single image gives me a newfound love for his character! Also I love Thorn here, not just because she's naked mind you. -//w//- The shading you added to her gives her a particular presence and color which affect the entirety of the image as a whole! Truly this is one of, if not my, favorite drawing of your own original characters and I wish you'd do a actual comic series of them. It's the whole reason I was inspired to put them in a fiction in the first place.
((Also sorry it took me so long to comment, you know how life is. ; I'll comment all your latest work right away! ))
I don't care if he looks too large, I still think this pic is amazing, and the fact that he completely fills the paper is the best part of it: you can feel how huge Slugger is, and how he's hangin' over Thorn: so menacing! Also, I love how you made his claws longer and thinner (as you said, hands can be very creepy!): it's like he grew up, revealing his final, lethal form! Thorn looks great as well, I love her pose, and how you can see the strenght in her legs, her muscles pushing against the ground to run, her arms and fists ready to attack if necessary. And even if we can't see her face, the pose lets us imagine how it could look like: I bet she has a very determined look now, and kinda surprised because of a huge Slugger suddenly running against her (yes, I think the chase has just begun: Thorn looks like she's ready to start it). Moreover, I love the shading, it gives her body a perfect volume, but it doesn't go against her "transparency" due to her jelly consistency. And Spaz is actually the only detail who lets us understand that what's going on is not a real "fight", more like a play or a training: a little presence, but a very important one! Still, he looks very badass in his own little way, and I love how he's riding Slugger, maybe directing him against Thorn! And last, I love the irregular ground: it's like SLugger might easily stumble because of it, but it gives Thorn a good chance to jump and dash easily. Nice touch! In a quick, final summing up, I honestly love this one, and I think it's one of the best pencil sketches you've ever realized: you're improving so fast *prouds* Wonderful work!
