Obsession would involve a LOT more attempts to 'break reality' and enter the 'human world' of Earth. And we have enough trouble with Discord in that regard, and Pinkie Pie.
To me, it looks more like you have admiration for the convenience of hands and opposable thumbs, among the other 'physical advantages' that a human has by design. And I can respect that.
Sadly, I can't say that I have that same kind of respect for the majority of humanity as a species. And I doubt that you would enjoy learning about the endless wars we have waged—and still wage—upon ourselves. Humans at the throats of other humans, and for the pettiest of reasons...
So, since humans are bipedal, we have two hands that possess 4 fingers and 1 thumb on each. Our thumbs and fingers contain bony joints which allows us to enjoy a high level of manual dexterity. Grasping and holding objects are two basic, yet vital functions that the human hand is generally expected to perform.
From there, we've developed devices that are designed to be held in our hands, and operated with a combination of our thumbs and fingers. In fact, most of human society and technology is designed around the assumption that the vast majority of humans have functional hands and fingers, which is usually the case. Of course, this is barring the obvious exemptions of people either born without hands or fingers, or people who lost them in some sort of accident. But that's a different topic for another time.
I would wager that the existence of magic in your world of Equestria contributed to the lack of a need for hands and fingers. I mean, who needs fingers if one can grasp objects with magic?
As for my world—which we call Earth, by the way—magic either doesn't exist here or possibly in our universe at all, or we simply lack a method to detect and use it as you have in Equestria. But we survived in...different ways.
Advanced technology is perhaps our most defining trait right now, with many feats accomplished through our various machines that we could never hope to do ourselves. Perhaps you'd like to hear more about that?
AWWW, how sweet I like the idea of Lyra's curiosity toward humans too, it's so cute! And here she looks cuter than ever! She looks so blissed and peaceful, dreaming of crouching in a human hand! I love her fully relaxed pose and her sweet expression, with those long eyelashes and that adorable smile :3 And I can't get tired of how you draw ponies' noses, they're the cutest thing ever! Simple but wonderful! ^^ Great work!
